The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) is the Government's recommended system for the home energy rating. The SAP energy cost rating is based on energy costs for space and water heating only.
The NHER rating takes into account the local environment and the effect it has on the building's energy rating. The NHER calculates the costs of space and water heating, but adds cooking, lights and appliances to give a comprehensive picture of energy usage in the home. This is why the NHER is more accurate than the SAP.
Reduced Data SAP (RDSAP) is the new Government-approved standardised system for undertaking an energy survey on an existing dwelling. RDSAP will be used as the standard methodology to produce the Energy Report as part of the Home Condition Report
